Jepara ia a regency in Central Java just 2-3 hours roide from Semarang, it is much less touristic than Yogyakarta and Bali, but in term of nature and culture it has everything: the archipelago of karimunjawa with its 27 island, the mountain of Muria with its 29 summits, rice terraces more beautiful than those in Ubud Bali, coffe plantations, megalithic temple ruins older thand Borobudur on top of a mount, waterfalls and pine forests, a series of beaches with white sand and calm shallow water, woodcarving art: the weavers’ village of troso and the history Kartini, a foretunner of womens’s rights on education and religius tolerance and a pioneer in heritage convervation.
