Tuesday, March 28th 2017 is Nyepi, the Hindu Silent Day and thus a national holiday. That means that the previous weekend of Saturday – Sunday the 24th and 25th will be prolonged by TWO DAYS.
Where do you want to spend those FOUR VACATION DAYS?
Karimunjawa, Bali, Yogyakarta will be chock-full with tourists. If you want to enjoy a vacation in a place not crowded with tourists, why not try Jepara?
Jepara or Japara in Central Java is much less touristic than Yogyakarta and Bali, but in terms of nature and culture it has everything : the mountain of Muria with its 29 summits, rice field terraces, coffee plantations, megalithic temple ruins older than Borobudur on top of a mount, waterfalls and pine forests, a series of beaches with white sand and calm shallow water, the archipelago of Karimunjawa, woodcarving arts, the weavers’ village of Troso and Kartini, a forerunner of women’s rights on education and a pioneer in heritage conservation.
We invite you to experience Japara on the coming prolonged weekend from FRIDAY EVENING / SATURDAY MORNING TO TUESDAY, March 24-28, 2017 with this programme :
FRIDAY EVENING, March 24, 1017

BEACHES HOPPING
We are going to fill this Sunday with a series of adventure :
I. SUNRISE FROM THE OPEN SEA
Very early in the morning, around 5:00 a.m. we depart to the fishermen’s harbour of Bondo. From there we take a fishing boat to the open sea where we can see the sunrise. Those who want to fish can do it. Tools are provided in the boat. Those who only want to enjoy the open sea, can relax on the boat with a book or something. After three hours sailing (at around 08:00) we go back to the beach for breakfast at one of the cafes on the beach.
II. LAKE OF A MILLION ROOTS
After breakfast we visit the LAKE OF A MILLION ROOTS. There, you can use the vines to swing like Tarzan or climb the trees.
III. A VERY QUIET BEACH BEHIND THE RUBBER FOREST
After the lake, we go trekking through the dense rubber plantation to find the Lemah Abang beach, a very quiet black sand beach with walls and pillars of red soil. Here we will enjoy picnic lunch and spend the afternoon exploring the beach or just lay lazy (again) on the sand.
IV. SUNSET ON BONDO BEACH
The last hours of sunlight we can spend on Bondo beach. Dinner at a local warung that serves the delicious Bondo style tahu campur will close the day. On this Saturday night we will camp again on anoher side of Bondo beach.

HIGHLANDS ADVENTURE
In the morning we leave from Jepara to the village of Duplak on the Tempur highlands up on the mountain of Muria, home of clear streams and rice terraces more beautiful than those in Ubud, Bali. There you can choose either to walk through the coffee plantation and enjoy the astonishing view of the mountains or hike to the ancient Candi Angin, a megalithic structure and have a contemplation there. We will stay for the night at one of the homes of the locals.
MONDAY March 27, 2017
WATERFALLS HOPPING
After breakfast in Duplak we will depart to enjoy the freshness of FOUR WATERFALLS. First we visit Kedungombo, the waterfall with stairs. Enjoy a simple picnic lunch before riding and then jumping from stone to stone in a stream filled with fresh clear water to Banyu Anjlok waterfall. Then to the waterfall Kedung Paso we follow a trail that is often used by local farmers. Take a refreshing swim under the falls. Last is a still undisclosed waterfall. Will it be the Niagara of Japara?
TUESDAY March 28, 2017
